This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalms 118:24
Today is a great day. My daughter’s best friend is visiting us from California. They have not seen each other in seven months, and she is coming to celebrate her 16th birthday tomorrow. Life is good!
I woke up this morning with a song in my heart. Don’t you love those days? The ones where you seem to have slept well, your spirit is happy, and you can’t wait to take on the day. The days where it is easy to smile, hope, and believe.
Unfortunately, not all days are like this, but even the bad days are still in His hands. It is still the day he made, and we can still be grateful for the breath he gives us. When the day looms large in front of us, that may be when we need a song in our hearts even more. A battle cry that our God is bigger than our problem, when we feel overwhelmed by our circumstances. A reminder that He is present to fight our battles, and that the victory is his.
If today is hard, may I encourage you.
- Take a moment to hide away in his presence.
- Think about what God has done for you, and pray a prayer of thanks.
- Tuck a song away in your heart to sing.
- Hold tight to His promise that He is with you. (Matt 28:20)
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is His faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
Raise a hallelujah!
It’s a song tucked away.
